The Centralina Economic Development Commission (CEDC) is beginning work on a required update to our region's existing Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy "CEDS", Prosperity for Greater Charlotte, approved in September 2012. Survey responses will greatly assist the process to build upon recent economic planning initiatives of our many regional partner organizations and clarify priorities for this new CEDS strategic overview.
The CEDS is a five-year planning document required by the US Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) to support Economic Development District operations. This collaborative tool helps both the public and private sectors capitalize on our strengths and work to overcome weaknesses, creating a more viable and prosperous region. It also presents opportunities to request grants for assistance with infrastructure, brownfields, and other economic development projects from EDA and other Federal agencies.
Your participation will provide valued insight and input that will validate what is most important to all community residents, business, and industry owners of Anson, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, and Union Counties and the Greater Charlotte region as a whole. The CEDC was established in 2005, and is a public non-profit organization serving as the governing board for the nine-county Centralina Economic Development District and administers the development of the CEDS. The CEDS update process will be completed by September 30, 2017.
