RowanWorks named an economic development superstar from Ohio, Rod Crider, as its new President and CEO this week, which means we have a new member of the CharlotteUSA team as of June 5. (Rowan is strategically located in central North Carolina and the rapidly growing Southeast region, with direct access to interstate highways, rail, and both international and regional airports including Rowan County Airport (RUQ). )
Crider, a 30 year ED professional, comes to CharlotteUSA from the Wayne County Economic Development Council, located in Wooster Ohio, where he served as President since 2005. Over his nearly 12-year tenure with the organization, he has assisted 259 companies that created 8,727 jobs and invested more than $1.7 billion dollars in new capital expenditures. During this time, Rod and his organization have earned national recognition for their efforts, including being named four times as one of the Top Economic Development Organizations in the Country by Site Selection magazine. Wayne County was also named three times by fDi Magazine as a Top Ten location in the Americas for foreign direct investment (FDI) and FDI strategy. Just as impressively, Crider has led the organization to 11 consecutive Top Six national rankings for economic performance of a US micropolitan economy, including First in the nation in 2013.
Crider said he was intrigued by Rowan County’s potential for growth, as well as its burgeoning reputation as a business-friendly community. If you are too and want to learn more about RowanWorks, call 704.637.5526 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
