Charlotte USA is once again cited for being a national leader in the current and future labor force for technology professionals.
The newly released report by internet technology association, CompTIA, ranks Charlotte number one in the nation for I.T. based on a number of factors including the number of open I.T. positions, cost of living, and overall quality of life.
CompTIA bases their rankings for their annual report on assessments of twenty leading metro areas across the nation.
As we have consistently seen over the past few years at the Charlotte Regional Partnership, our 16 county Charlotte USA footprint is thriving in the Internet Technology global marketplace.
The key factors cited for Charlotte’s number one ranking include:
- An $87,755 median IT professional salary.
- Nearly 45,000 IT jobs posted from August 2017 to July 2018
- An 11 percent job growth expected over the next five years
- A cost of living that is about 1 percent lower than the national average
Information Technology is a leading driver in the region’s economy, with UNC-Charlotte’s Computer Science and Informatics program getting international recognition and bringing unmatched innovation to the industry. Indeed, we are seeing proof every day that our region is a vibrant area in attracting, and expanding high tech’s economic impact.
According to the latest national study by CBRE, the number of people working in IT jobs in Charlotte grew by 59 percent over the past six years with around 55,000 people now employed in the tech field here.
