“Following unanimous approval of an economic development package for Carolina Canners by Chesterfield County Council at Wednesday’s council meeting, Carolina Canners Chief Executive Officer Jeff Stevens announced a three-year, $45 million expansion at the Cheraw Plant.
Expected to create 40 Jobs, this expansion, which has been brewing for several months, entails adding another production line at the Cheraw Plant that will bottle tea and is expected to be operation next May.
The primary incentive established a fee payment to the count in lieu of taxes, the provision of revenue credits and other related matters, while another incentive added land in the Chesterfield County portion in the joint industrial park with Kershaw county. These incentives have become standard procedure by state and local governments to help convince private businesses including Titan Stainless and Nestle Water, to locate to those government entities.”
