Huge AT&T data center planned for Kings Mountain

AT&T Inc. will build a $200 million data center in a Kings Mountain business park that already contains a partially complete Walt Disney Co. data center.

The 1 million-square-foot facility for Dallas-based AT&T (NYSE:T) will open by 2014 in T5 Partners’ Kings Mountain Data Center Park.

Siemens has high hopes for its Charlotte hub

It's not every day that the chief executive of 360,000-employee Siemens AG visits Charlotte (it has been four years) or that an employee is highlighted in the president's State of the Union address.

The twain met late Monday when Munich-based CEO Peter Löscher met Charlotte worker Jackie Bray, who represented Siemens as President Barack Obama touted manufacturing and job retraining in last month's speech.

Southern Paint of Waxhaw to hire 13 in Chesterfield County

Waxhaw-based Southern Paint & Powder Coating Inc. will hire 13 as it opens a shop in an existing building in Pageland.

The company will spend $845,000 to renovate the former Eagle Springs Water Co. building on Usher Street, off S.C. Highway 9 on the east side of town.

The Winston-Salem-based health-care system is looking to hire workers with backgrounds in information technology, clinical services and business for the initiative, called Dimensions.
